Photo study

I've wanted to do some light studies for a while so my next few posts stand a chance of being photo studies.. I'll likely struggle quite a lot with them too...

This first one was done in about 1 hour.

Obviously my main issue here is that I screwed up with the main form and also seem scared of adding in too much shadow. While I prefer my colour palette that doesn't make it any better as I'm meant to be doing a study. I found the bounce light made it quite difficult. A lot of my details got lost too.

Wave Study

I've spent more time in my sketchbook than digital today but that's partly down to a shift in tablet (temporary). I decided to have a shot at doing a wave study though.

While I don't think its terrible the colours feel muddy and I'd like to work on getting a better translucent feel to the water as well as working on a better technique for sea foam and spray because clearly I haven't figured that out yet. I'll try again another day =]

Clouds

I've finally finished my time in education. As of this Friday just gone I am no longer a student and I can fully focus on my work with Space Budgie and the extra bits of contract work I've acquired which while very scary I'm excited for. During the last few weeks of masters I decided I wanted to figure out what I liked to paint/draw as something I can just do as a relaxation technique and I spent some time just drawing clouds.

It's always nice seeing the progression in your work.

I'm hoping after a little mental break I'll be able to start playing around with more things like these and expand my skills to help bridge some of the gaps.

Life Drawing

I've had some time while the software was playing up to fit in some quick poses. Always good to find time anyway but it's a little hectic. I've included some bonus cat motion analysis too!

Small update, I made some folded paper and brushed steel today.. The steel was following a tutorial but I think it came out pretty well. Thought I'd post them here

Bunny

 More illustrator, making the most of my short gap between semesters. I have more work to do though so really it's a palette cleanser. I really like how this one turned out! Thanks to Mike and Dave for the feedback that helped with iteration.

CuddleFish - Cactus

Continuing with my voyage into illustrator waters, I though't I'd try working with one of my old concepts.

I like how some bits turned out but I think I could use to work on my layering system a little more, I also don't like the new colour scheme as much but that's changeable. It's progress.

Budgies!

I've been learning illustrator lately and to help speed me up I've got round to doing a space budgie project. I've made us all into Budgies! Plenty learnt from it and lots of things that need fixing but it's a good start. Special thanks to Mus for his feedback and assistance. I've put them in order of when I did them to help show a little progression.
